How to de-stress yourselves during exams….

Nowadays, there is much more competition for marks than the earlier times. Stress is taking over the mind of the youngsters. They are not able to do anything than taking stress.

Stress is the worst enemy of a student. It affects your productivity and only gives you tension. It can also give you headaches and higher rates of depression and anxiety. Sometimes you are so stressed that you take out your anger on others. This can ruin your relationship with them. You also sometimes get sleepless nights which results in bad health and foul mood.

Like every problem has a solution, there are also some tips that you must follow to de-stress yourself. You should revise everything at home that is taught to you on daily basis. You must maintain a timetable and start to prepare yourself a month before exam. Exercising and playing with your friends can help you to stay energetic and stress free during exams. Yoga is one of the best options. Set a time limit for a given task. Take short breaks after performing the tasks as they rejuvenate your energy. Always remind yourself that you are giving exams so that you can test yourself and learn rather than just to score marks. Self motivation is one of the best ideas one can use.

Apart from all these you should eat healthy, get more sleep and be away from distractions like mobile phones and televisions. Everyone should follow these golden rules to de-stress ourselves from exams and stay away from fear.

Waking up early

I am very glum today. My school organised a trip to Manali and I was very excited to go with my friends. But today because of my habit of waking up late I missed the train. I lost a golden chance today. I had been waiting for this day for a long time but because of my stupidity I couldn’t go with my friends. They would be enjoying, doing river rafting, playing with snow at Rotang pass, making snow man, doing adventurous activities, clicking pictures, cracking jokes, camping and much more. When they will come back and will tell me what all they did and show me the pictures I will be heartbroken. Everyone is upset with me because of my carelessness. My parents aren’t talking to me as I wasted their money. My brother is laughing at me because of my weakness of not waking up early. I will feel humiliated when I’ll ask my friends what they did on trip. From this experience I have realised the importance of waking up early. I also know that waking late can make you lose your chances and opportunities. From now onward I will always wake up early.

A memorable trip with friends….

Last summer vacations I visited Kulu and Manali along with my friends. Kulu is a beautiful valley full of lush green trees, apple orchards and forests. Manali was full of ice packed mountains. Kulu and Manali was about forty kilometres away from each other. In Kulu we visited River Beas, Rupi Palace, Raghunath Temple, Bijli Mahadev Temple, Jagannath Temple, Basheshwar Mahadev Temple, Great Himalayan National Park, Kasidhar and Deo Tibba. At Great Himalayan National Park we saw more that 180 species of animals and mammals. Another place we visited was Roerich Art Gallery where we saw paintings and sculptures of Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. We also did many adventurous sports like skiing, mountaineering, trekking. Kullu was a beautiful destination and it was provided with the gift of nature.

The road trip from Kullu to Manali was interesting. We all sang, dance, played dumb-charades and cards, ate, talked, cracked jokes and slept on the way. It was a one night drive. Next morning we reached Manali.

Manali was truly heaven. Scenery was magnificent with snow acting as cherry on the cake. We played snow fight, made snow man, did trekking, mountaineering, skiing, paragliding and river rafting there. We visited old Manali village, Vashishtha Temple, Hadimba Temple, Jogini Falls, Solang Valley, Van Vihar, Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art and Manali Sanctuary. Jogini falls were situated near Vashishtha Temple and were mesmerizing. The water was crystal clear and had greenery all around. It was coming step wise from rocky landscape. Manali Sanctuary was a little world of animals on its own. We saw many animals like Himalayan Black Bear, Musk Deer, Flying Fox, Stripped Hyena, Himalayan Tahr, Indian Hare, Barking Deer, Kashmir flying Squirrels and many more. There were trees which adorned its beauty. They were Deodar, Kail, Maple, Walnut and Horse chestnut. The weather was pleasant with breeze blowing around. We camped near the riverside instead of staying in hotel and got engaged in various things like folk music, folk dance, colours, enjoyment and mouth watering delicacies.

This trip showed me that the cultures in this world are unlimited and even a lifetime is less to know them all. This seven days trip made me realise the beauty of nature and its worth. I will never forget this trip and will always cherish its memories.

Plight of our monuments….

I would like to draw your attention towards the issue of negligence towards historical monument in our city, Agra.

Taj Mahal is a beautiful monument with a lovely history but unfortunately nowadays its beauty is decreasing. There are green spots in the corners of walls, marbles have become dull and yellow and moths have made it their home. Garbage litters all along the way. Gardens around it have become barren and flowers have died.

This is due to negligence of authorities and leniency over staff members. If this will continue our historical heritage will be spoiled. These monuments are symbol and pride of our history. We should take care of them and keep check on them timely.

Saving our rivers

India is full of customs and beliefs. We relate everything to our emotions. Likewise we say that rivers are our goddess and give them the title of our mother. But are they really in acceptable condition?

Rivers play a monumental in our lives. They give us fresh water which we drink to live. Its water is also used in agriculture, power generation and many other sectors. But in today’s day to day life we are polluting rivers so much that their water can no longer be called pure and can’t be used without filtering. We humans are throwing garbage in them. Activities like animal bathing, human bathing, washing clothes and utensils leaves a great impact on the purity of rivers.

You know everything has a consequence whether good or bad. Our habit of polluting rivers has a massive devastating impact on us. If we will not save our rivers then we will not get fresh water for drinking, agriculture, bathing and other activities. It will also affect our Eco system as aquatic life will be dead. We should take measures like no one should do household work in rivers, throw garbage in it, industries settled at river side should be banned and they must not be allowed to throw poisonous liquid in it. Anyone flaunting the ban should be put behind the bars.

As rivers are national heritage and tourism spot also we should realize their importance.

To study or to work…..

Our maid Seema, was a very hardworking person. She never gave anyone a reason to complain. She didn’t have much but was satisfied with her life and never demanded anything. One day after doing her chores, she was helping my brother in picking up his books, that’s when I noticed that she was reading the title of each book. Then I wondered whether she had studied or not. One day I asked her about her education. That time she told me that she is educated till primary level. Unfortunately at that time her father wasn’t able to continue work due to some reasons. Being eldest in the family, all responsibilities were on her shoulders.

Therefore she had to work instead of study, unwillingly. I saw the eagerness in her to learn be capable of something. I lent a hand to support her and taught her at home. I made her give exams and she passed with flying colours. Now, she is personal assistant of a businesswoman and handles her office. She is proud of herself and me. She also credits me for her success but it was her talent that let me help her reach to the top.

Importance of parents…

It was a dark and lonely night. I was returning from my friend’s house. The sky was filled with stormy clouds. Breeze was blowing along the trees. I was walking and was not too far from home when suddenly a strong wind blew and lightning struck along with it. The clouds were gathering and making noises. I started walking faster towards my home. As I was approaching I saw an ambulance near the corner. I went there and saw two little girls aged around three to four. I asked them what happened when they pointed towards the van. I asked a nurse the same question then she told me that there was an accident, a few hours ago. A drunk truck driver hit their car and because of lack of medical redressal two people died. An unknown phone call came to them telling them about this accident and when they reached they were no more. The kids were safe as they were sitting at the back. I asked them what they are going to do now. They said that they will bury the bodies and send the kids to orphanage as they didn’t know any relative or person who can give them shelter and take care of them.

I didn’t like the idea of such small kids going to the orphanage. They also deserve a home and loving people, and I thought of letting them stay with me. I asked the nurse if I could pursue my idea to which she replied that I have to become their legal guardian and adopt them for my wish to fulfill. I realized that it was a drastic step but when I looked at those two innocent faces, my heart melted. That night they stayed with me and I adopted them with all legal processes the next morning.

When I got to know about them, that horrible night, I thought that how lucky I am. I have my parents who loved me, cared for me, fulfilled my every wish, provided me a life and helped me in every step of that life…..

The old age home…

Today’s experience was an eye opening one. I visited an old age home where old people where living in miserable conditions. They were sitting together and were singing religious songs. Only a few rooms were there so everyone had to compromise. When I visited them I realized that they were very depressed. They appeared to be optimistic and happy about life but their circumstances revealed their reality. They all narrated me their stories and I realised that one thing was common in them that they weren’t elated to be there. They unwillingly came to this home because they could no longer bear the torture. I felt a volcano of emotions erupting inside me. I was glum and felt sympathy towards them. I was red with rage because of their families, that forced them to leave their house. But I tried to convince myself by thinking that they were living in a better place. I wonder how can people ill treat these oldies. They play a monumental role in our lives. They share the experiences of life with us, tell us the difference between right and wrong, play with us and show us the right path. They are the ones who care for us. They have years of wisdom. They sacrifice their dreams for our well being. After this experience I have started respecting my grandparents more. I spend quality time with them and ensure that they are happy all time. I will also sensitize my friends who live with their grandparents. They have served us for so many years now it is our turn to serve them.

A tale of true friendship….

It was summer season. One day there happened an accident which led to an unbreakable friendship. One fine morning the sun shone brightly, a light breeze was blowing, atmosphere was calm and cool with flowers all around. One small bee was doing its work that day. While it was sucking nectar from a petal he didn’t notice that the petal was about to fall but a dove flying by noticed. Suddenly the petal broke and the bee fell into a water tank due to the breeze. The dove witnessed this and thought of helping the bee. It plucked a leaf and dropped it into the water tank. The bee climbed onto the leaf and flew away. That evening a hunter was looking for its prey in the jungle. Suddenly, he noticed the dove flying by. He aimed at her but the dove, being oblivious to this was soaring high and enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. Before the hunter could shoot, the bee stinged him and he cried due to pain, catching the dove’s attention. The dove flew away with the bee leaving the hunter in pain. After they stopped the dove thanked the bee but she kindly refused it saying that they were friends from the moment the dove saved her, and she was just doing the right thing.

This gives us a moral that if animals can help each other despite being of different species, humans should also help each other in times of need without any selfish desire.

Safety of girl child

This is a very shameful thing that on one hand we worship girls on Navratri and on the other hand they are assaulted rest of the days. Often the perpetrator is a family member or known one so it is difficult for a girl to trust anyone. They have no respect for girl child and take advantage of their innocence. The perpetrators must remember that physical scars remain for few days but emotional scars remain forever and girls aren’t able to forget them. The main reasons why such crimes are committed are because they think that girls are easy targets. They attract girls by offering toffees. Moreover criminals are not aware of gender sensitization and do not have self control.

This is a grim issue and shouldn’t be brushed under the carpet. Strict actions should be taken against the culprit. People should be sensitized about “good touch and bad touch”. Counselling of parents should be done. Influential people should speak up for this issue. Schools should teach students and make them aware about strangers. Self defense techniques ought to be made compulsory. All over security must be robust. Parents should make their children aware of helpline numbers. Lastly there should be quick and strict actions by police and courts in these cases so that a person thinks twice before committing such disgusting crime.

I hope that we do not lose out any other girl to crime.
